Israel, the Iran war and AIPAC
I oppose the unauthorized and unconstitutional war in Iran.
I’m shocked beyond belief at the psychotic, venomous and utterly nonsensical statements that spew regularly from the White House about the war. Especially after the Easter Sunday profanity-laden threats to commit war crimes against Iran's civilian infrastructure followed by a promise to commit genocide in Iran, the near unanimous silence from MAGA members of Congress, including Cliff Bentz, leaves me (almost) speechless.
I support the nation of Israel’s right to exist and the Israeli government’s historic vigilance to ensure security for its people, as well as the Israeli people’s commitment to their democracy and free-market economy.
I support a two-state solution where Jews and Palestinians can co-exist, peacefully, as neighbors, with a shared history and reverence for the sacred land they inhabit.
The Iranian regime’s oppression of its own citizens and continued support of proxy organizations (such as Hezbollah) which attack Israel are not acceptable.
Israel had every right to respond forcefully to the Oct. 7 Hamas attack. But I’m truly shocked by the direction Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is taking his country. I blame the recent destruction of Gaza and the mass killing and dehumanization of innocent Palestinian civilians squarely on him and his government.
I will not accept political contributions from AIPAC.
